Pastor Bill Carney


Education: BS, Music Education, K-12 from Concordia College, Bronxville, NY (May, 1981).  Master of Divinity, Concordia Seminary, St. Catharines, Ontario Canada (October, 1986).

Family: Married to Donna (June, 1984). Three children...Melissa (Brian) in Crown Point Indiana, Heather (Vince) in Merrillville Indiana, Thomas (Emily) in Levittown Pa., and five grandchildren.

   Pastor Carney was born in Jamaica, New York City, on June 29, 1959.

   After High School, he traveled to West Virginia to attend the University of Charleston in Charleston, West Virginia.  He transferred after two years to finish up his college education at Concordia College in Bronxville, New York, graduating in May 1981 with a BS. in Music Education, K-12; majoring in voice.

   In the Fall of 1983 he enrolled at Concordia Lutheran Seminary, St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. In the fall of 1985 he was the Vicar at Alpha Lutheran Church of the Deaf in Rochester, New York.

   In April of 1986, Pastor Carney received his first Call to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Britton, South Dakota where he served until March of 1989.

   In April of 1989 he was installed as the Assistant Pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Amityville, New York.  June of 1993, he was installed as the Senior Pastor and served until June of 1995.

   In June of 1995 he began his ministry at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Lockport, New York.  After 10 ½ years at Mount Olive, he accepted the Call to serve as Pastor at Hope Lutheran Church in Levittown, Pa until July 2011 when he accepted the Call to become the Pastor at Our Redeemer, Honolulu, Hawai'i.

   During his ministry, Pastor Carney has served as District Vice President, District Secretary, Circuit Visitor, District Reconciler and Synodical Hearing Facilitator.
